Research

In support of its advocacy efforts, particularly on substantive issues such as real estate property taxes, fire and life safety, and energy, BOMA/Chicago has conducted research of its own, or engaged credentialed academics or others to conduct specific research, including BOMA/Chicago's Economic Impact Study.  Examples of significant BOMA/Chicago research projects include:

  • Economic impact study of Chicago’s commercial office building market conducted in 2006, updated in 2012 and most recently in 2017.
  • Annual survey of the total property taxes paid by all BOMA/Chicago member buildings.
  • Tracking and analysis of historic trends in property assessment and taxation through the annual compilation of the BOMA/Chicago Property Tax and Assessment Index.

BOMA/Chicago is proud of its reputation for arriving at fact-based positions on issues of concern to both members and the City at large.
